Qualification Summary
In order to qualify for this position, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service. This series covers technical positions supervising, leading, or performing work involving applying a practical knowledge of the methods and techniques of engineering or architecture; and construction, application, properties, operations, and limitations of engineering systems, processes, structures, machinery, devices, and materials.Specific qualifying specialized experience for this position (which should be documented on your resume) is technical work in drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems; Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents; examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test or design responsibilities such as: Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for productions purposes, instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated; Knowledgeable of Computer-Aided Design Drafting (CADD) techniques and ability to prepare drawings utilizing a CADD system. OR EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: Successfully completed two (2) full years of graduate education, or a master’s degree. Your education must be directly related to the work of this position as an Engineering Technician (Drafting). NOTE TO APPLICANTS: One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one year of full-time study; if that number cannot be obtained from the transcript, 18 semester hours will be considered as one full academic year of graduate study. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED – If you do not submit a copy of your transcript, your application may not be processed.) OR COMBINATION: Possess equivalent combinations of experience and education as described above to fully meet the requirements of this position. Your education must be directly related to the work of this position as an Engineering Technician (Drafting). (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position:
Administration and ManagementCivil EngineeringCommunicationsContracting/ProcurementFinancial ManagementTechnology Application IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
