Qualification Summary
PLEASE NOTE: THE FIRST 50 APPLICATIONS WILL RECEIVE FIRST CONSIDERATION. Of the first 50 applicants, First Consideration will go to Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center employees, Second Consideration will go to The Department of Veteran’s Affairs employees, and further consideration will then extend out to other federal employees and those that qualify to apply by other circumstances. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/29/2020. GS-05: One (1) year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that required performing a variety of receptionist duties; Procuring supplies and services to meet the needs of an organization; Purchasing various equipment, and services through the use of a purchase card; Utilizing a variety of automated systems to enter, update, revise, sort, and calculate data. This experience must be equivalent to the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service.
OR
Successfully completed four (4) full years of education leading to a bachelor’s degree, with major study or at least 24 hours in subjects directly related to the position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED). OR
Equivalent combinations of creditable specialized experience and education as described above to meet the total requirements for the position. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:
Customer ServiceTechnical Competence Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: Requires some physical effort such as standing, sitting, walking, or bending. There are no special physical demands. The work is performed in an office setting involving everyday risks or discomforts. Normal safety precautions are adequate.
