GS-06 Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Providing assistance with Debt Management and/ or Treasury Off-set programs. Skill using in Microsoft Office Products such as Excel, Word, Power-point, etc. to ensure that pertinent information is gathered and entered into automated systems. Providing patient education and assistance via telephone or written correspondence concerning one or more healthcare programs. Preparing written documents such as correspondence and memorandum’s of a routine nature. Knowledge of laws, rules, regulations and guidelines related to healthcare eligibility and billing to analyze and prepare data for processing. OR; GS-05 Substitution of Education for Experience (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED): Do you possess Four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. OR; GS-05 Combination of Education and Experience (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED): Do you possess a combination of successfully completed education and experience to meet the total experience requirements. (i.e. 6 months of specialized experience and 3 years of education above the high school level). NOTE: Only education beyond the second year can be used in combination with specialized experience to qualify for this grade. GS-06 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: .Ensures that all pertinent information is gathered and entered into automated systems in a timely and accurate manner. Processes and validates first party refunds, and validates the demographic information of the customer to ensure the receipt of any resulting refund. Collects, compiles and/or tracks data for the preparation of statistical, financial and/or administrative reports on an ad hoc or recurring basis. Independently prepares written documents such as correspondence, memoranda, reports, pamphlets, and similar documents daily. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary with long periods of sitting at a desk, working with computers daily. Some work may require walking in offices and similar areas for meetings. Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite. The work does not require any special physical effort.
