Qualification Summary
To be eligible, an applicant must have obtained a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution within the previous 2 years or other applicable period. Other applicable period may include: (1) Certain veterans precluded from applying within the timeframe described above due to a military service obligation, shall have a full 2-year period of eligibility upon his/her release or discharge from active duty. However, in no event, may the individual’s eligibility period extend beyond 6 years from the date on which the individual completed the requirements of an academic course of study.
In order to be rated as qualifiedfor this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement – please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled.
To qualifyfor the GS-05: Three (3)years of general experience, One (1) year of which was equivalent to at least GS-4. Experience at this level is defined as experience which includes analyzing problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; plan and organize work; and communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to organize work such that you are able to work on multiple projects (at various stages of completion) at the same time; answering routine public inquiries; reviewing, maintaining an electronic or physical file database/system; and ability to expertly use basic office software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite). – OR -Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study inany fieldleading to a bachelor’s degree, in an accredited college or university – OR – A combination of education and experience.
To Qualify for GS-07: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level. Examples of specialized experience includes, but is not limited to, responding to inquiries from the public and explaining basic fee schedules, processes, and procedures; Experience with the creation, processing or review of land descriptions, appraisals, knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), or other clearances to endure compliance; experience with assisting or leading a consultation with interested parties such as: beneficiaries, lessees, or land owners about Realty needs; demonstrated ability to provide effective communication; supporting real estate records and planning documents, coordination with local entities; ability to establish relationships with local and State agencies; participating on project development teams, and using databases and reporting tools to track multiple activities. (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite). Knowledge of ESRI GIS tools. Demonstrated ability to work within an interdisciplinary team. – OR-Successful completion of 1 full year of graduate education leading to a Master’s degree (or Superior Academic Achievement, such as B.S. and 3.0 cumulative GPA, or 3.5 GPA in final two years, or 3.5 GPA in core coursework). -OR- A combination of education and experience.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
