Jeet jayenge hum tu agar sang hai (Version 2) was featured in the N N Sippy Films’ family drama Meri Jung (1985) meaning My War, directed by Subhash Ghai and produced by N N Sippy. The movie starred Anil Kapoor, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Nutan, Amrish Puri, Javed Jaffrey (debut), A K Hangal, Iftekhar, Khushboo, Parikshit Sahni, etc.

This story is about the trials and tribulations experienced by a lower middle-class family of Arun Verma. Arun’s father (Girish Karnad), a music teacher, is hanged on false charges of murder. The little boy’s mother (Nutan) is mentally affected by the incident. Arun has a younger sister Komal and her responsibility falls on the 8-year-old’s shoulder. He is motivated by his father’s lawyer (A K Hangal) and the teachings of his parents.

The kids are thrown out of every place they see kindness in. Through sheer perseverance, Arun grows up and brings up his sister Komal. Arun is inspired to become one of the best lawyers of the city by the same lawyer Thakral (Amrish Puri), who got his father hanged on false charges.

One day, Arun wins an open-and-shut case of Dr. Asha Mathur (Beena), who has been framed in a murder case; risking his life for it. He takes up the case when her sister Geeta (Meenakshi Sheshadri) says something that reminds him of his mother’s condition at the time of his father being accused of the murder. Geeta and the Mathur family invite him for a party where he sees his father’s piano, which had been auctioned when he was small. He sings this song playing the piano there.

Anand Bakshi penned the lyrics and Lakshmi-Pyare composed the score of Jeet jayenge hum tu agar sang hai (Version 2).

The gist of the song is, “We will win if you are with me. Life is a war at every step.”

The video begins with Anil Kapoor taking an alaap and humming. He begins to sing the song. Meenakshi Seshadri, Parikshit Sahni, Beena and others are impressed. This is a short version of the first song. Soon, the song peters out and the video ends as Anil Kapoor and Parikshit Sahni embrace each other.


Shabbir Kumar has sung for Anil Kapoor. Meenakshi Sheshadri, Parikshit Sahni and Beena are seen with some other actors, appreciating the performance.

Cultural Influence

The song is highly inspirational and says that a war can only be won by coming together. The song and the artists are good. The video is watchable for the same.
