Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience:
Must have at least one-year experience in planning, implementing, and conducting safe and effective cardiovascular and strength conditioning programs and fitness assessments. Work experience must include knowledge of exercise science including Kinesiology, functional anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, program administration, psychology, and injury prevention. A Cooper Institute, American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), AF AA, ACE or other DOD or internationally recognized personal trainer certification is desirable. Must possess a current American Heart Association Heartsaver (AED) and an American Red Cross first aid certification, or obtain within thirty days of hire. Knowledge of proper cash handling procedures, the ability to resolve common arithmetic problems used when receiving payment from customers and the ability to operate a cash register is desirable. Must be able to read, write and speak English and communicate effectively with patrons and staff.
