Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The incumbent frequently works in close quarters around hot pipes, heating units, and on wet slippery floors. The incumbent frequently handles repair items in excess of 50 pounds or more which may be occasionally carried for considerable distances. In the performance of repair work the incumbents are exposed to moving equipment and sharp edges with the possibility of cuts and bruises, and are also exposed to noise and vibration from machines. Incumbent works indoors and outdoors sometimes in inclement weather. Potentially work in dusty or confined spaces, including entering boiler steam drums, mud drums, and fire boxes. The incumbents work requires periodic climbing on ladders, and scaffolds, sustained standing in one position, lifting, bending, and reaching.
