Qualification Summary
This position is Telework eligible in accordance with agency policy. This is not a remote position. Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. Minimum Qualifications: Specialized Experience: Qualifying experience for the GS-5 position includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-4 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience monitoring the health of, and caring for animals (ruminants which may include sheep, cattle, horses, or working dogs); following standard research procedures; and handling animal feeding equipment in a rangeland, feedlot or research setting. OR Education: A full 4-year course of study above the high school level leading to a bachelor’s degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. At least 6 semester hours of courses must have been directly related. Related courses may include animal science, animal feeding and nutrition, livestock/farm animal management, food science, meat science, inorganic chemistry, physiology, or zoology. OR Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience as described above. AND Selective Placement Factor(s): In addition to the specialized experience requirement above, this position has a selective placement factor (SPF). Selective Placement Factors are special requirements, in addition to the minimum requirements, that are essential in successfully performing the duties of this job. If SPF experience is not documented in your resume, you will not receive further consideration under this announcement. Must have experience feeding, handling AND caring for Sheep, Cattle, OR Goats. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
