I like Asha Parekh because she is a Tom Boy and a Bharatanatyam dancer. Add to this the Tom Boyish singing of Asha Bhonsle. The result is out of this world. In fact, I believe the Tom Boy aspect of Asha Bhonsle’s voice has not been exploited by many composers. It just emerges in bits, here and there. Thus, I thought of Asha sings for Asha or a post with as many Asha2 songs I can get for a single article.
Asha sings for Asha in Bollywood
Some of my favorite Bollywood solos sung by Asha Bhonsle for Asha Parekh are:
Ankhonse jo utri hai dil mein… Phir Wahi Dil Laya Hoon (1963)
Khat likhde Sanwariya ke naam Babu… Aaye Din Bahar Ke (1966)
Jab chali thandi hawa… Do Badan (1966)
Parde mein rehne do… Shikar (1968)
Palat meri jaan… Aan Milo Sajna (1970)
