Qualification Summary
At the ZS-III level: Applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at the GS-04 level (ZS-II at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as experience serving as a principal assistant to a supervisor and subordinate staff by providing administrative and clerical support; building and maintaining working relationships across all levels of management and staff. OR 4 years above high school OR Combination of education and experience which is equivalent to the one year of specialized experience. (NOTE: only education in excess of 2 years or 60 semester hours is creditable towards meeting the specialized experience requirement) IN ADDITION, applicants must be able to type 40 WPM. At the ZS-IV level: Applicants must have 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 (ZS-III at NIST) level. Specialized Experience is defined as experience in utilizing office automation skills and various automated systems to perform duties (such as data entry, financial management/review, travel arrangements and regulations, timekeeping, maintaining accurate auditable files and records in databases. IN ADDITION, applicants must be able to type 40 WPM.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
