Dancing Doll Vaijayantimala

Vaijayantimala is considered to be the first female superstar of Bollywood. A fantastic dancer, she is trained in Bharatanatyam. Some South Indian stars, who also ventured into Bollywood, have imitated her to reach great heights. Some of them have just imitated her, while others have taken inspiration from her. She has been an idol for Bollywood and South Indian film industry. Thus, today’s second post is on Dancing Doll Vaijayantimala.

Bollywood and Dancing Doll Vaijayantimala

Some of my favorite 1950s Bollywood songs of the dancing Diva are:

Man dole mera tan dole… Nagin (1954)

Tum sang preet lagayi Rasiya… New Delhi (1955)

Ude jab jab zulfen teri… Naya Daur (1957)

Bolri katpuli dori kaun sang bandhi… Katputli (1957)

Eena mina dika (female)… Aasha (1957)

Zulmi sang aankh ladi… Madhumati (1958)
