Qualification Summary
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/03/2020. Basic Requirements/Qualifications: U.S. Citizenship; Proficient in spoken and written English language; Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by the Accrediting Commission on Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).; Current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a registered nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the US or in the District of Columbia. A master’s degree in Nursing or diplomas from a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate state agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant The Accreditation Commission of Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited program; Current BLS certification required; Preferred Experience/Qualifications: A minimum of three (3) years of successful clinical practice experience is preferred; Prescriptive authority requirements include evidence of national certification and completion of upper division education in pharmacology highly desirable; Demonstrated ability in previous assignments to make critical decisions in high volume and stressful environments; Demonstrated dependability for duty and flexibility in work assignments and hours in previous assignments. Grade Determinations: The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade: Nurse II – A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master’s degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse III – Master’s degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience. Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-6 Nurse Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office. Physical Requirements: The incumbent of the position performs direct patient care and must meet the below physical requirements to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Lift 45 lbs. or over, Carry 45 lbs. or over, Straight pulling, Pushing, Reaching above shoulders, use of fingers and both hands, Walking, Standing, Kneeling, Repeated bending, Near vision (correctable), Far vision (correctable), Ability to distinguish basic colors, Ability to distinguish shades of colors, Hearing, and Emotional stability. This is a testing-designated position, subject to random pre- and post-employment testing for illegal drug use. Environmental Factors: Inside work, Constant noise, Dust, Fumes, smoke or gases, Working closely with others, Protracted or irregular hours of work, Exposure to infectious diseases.
