A Bachelor’s Degree in an academic field related to the health sciences or allied sciences such as exercise physiology, kinesiology, or other related curricula focused on fitness assessment, or psychological adaptation to exercise and exercise program design AND three years of experience that demonstrates competence in: providing proper education, instruction and training on: functional fitness, injury prevention, sports nutrition, and other related subjects related to the physiology and psychology of human performance. Must show experience in and the current ability to instruct and properly demonstrate the execution of prescribed exercises. Must have experience in formulating, organizing, prioritizing and evaluating a structured curriculum that educates, provides a sense of achievement, aids in physical and mental health, promotes performance and increases combat readiness. Must have the skill to effectively communicate and coordinate with various Marine Corps agencies, external agencies and contacts such as Course Coordinators, military members at various levels of authority and members of military institutions. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and automated external defibrillator certifications. Requires current fitness certification from an accredited source such as: American Council on Exercise: Personal Trainer, Clinical Exercise Specialist, Lifestyle Weight Management Consultant, National Strength and Conditioning Association: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Certified Personal Trainer. Must have knowledge of and/or membership in an accredited association such as: American College of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association or other accredited associations in order to stay abreast of current practices and theories, network with subject matter experts and enhance the effectiveness and credibility of military combat fitness programming. Must have the skills to plan, develop, evaluate and refine course materials, methods, and techniques, and assess and improve program effectiveness. Knowledge of and experience in administration of health screenings, fitness assessments, exercise prescriptions, conducting progressive individual fitness programs, and demonstrating proper exercise techniques sufficient to conduct comprehensive health and fitness programs. Must have experience with human performance research and associated requirements. Must be able to meet and maintain a first class score on the Marine Corps Combat Fitness Test and Physical Fitness Test within 60 days of hiring. This requirement may be reassessed annually.
