Provide course descriptions as necessary. Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-07: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 in the Federal service. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Administrative officer or assistant, budget administration, program analysis, or other work that demonstrated knowledge of an organization and its functions, and the ways in which support services can facilitate the work of the organization. Office management experience that included responsibility for directing a variety of support services such as typing, mail processing, purchase of supplies and equipment, etc. Secretarial work that required monitoring and coordinating administrative and processing work of subordinate elements through a system of internal procedures, controls, production, progress reporting, etc., to insure the efficient operation of an organization. This experience may include: Collecting and tracking budgetary information and statistical data for use in the formulation and execution of budget requests and reports; Purchasing supplies, equipment, and services; Creating travel orders and vouchers; Composing, typing, and proofreading correspondence and narrative and tabular material (i.e., databases and spreadsheets). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Substitution of Education for Experience (HR/SME):
Graduate Education: Major study — public administration, business administration, industrial engineering, industrial management, or other administrative or management fields related to the position to be filled. For some positions in this series graduate education may not provide the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience may be required for such positions. One full academic year of graduate-level education is creditable for GS-7. Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 grade level; OR
One full year (18 semester/27 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level education if the coursework is directly related to the work of the position; OR combinations of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.
