Qualification Summary
BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s degree or higher in successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s degree or higher in Physiology or a related discipline or field of science. Courses such as anatomy; cytology; invertebrate and vertebrate zoology; embryology; entomology; animal, dairy, and poultry husbandry; nutrition; genetics; and physiology may be used to meet the 24-semester-hour requirement in the basic animal sciences. or related disciplines. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)
AND
In addition to meeting the basic education requirement you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal service which equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this Research Physiologist position. Specialized experience includes: Knowledge of a wide range of complex research protocols, research methodology, publications and regulations in the field of Health Science gained from professional experience; experience with health assessment phases, requiring comprehensive review and analysis of findings; assessing the problems, requiring to independently apply knowledge to complex and diverse work assignments and develop new mathematical models, algorithms, processes, and techniques to assess and track findings as they pertain to health and fitness; especially to cardiovascular disease; experience in physiology and biomedical imaging with experience in cardiovascular imaging research, prior preclinical and clinical cardiovascular research experience, and the ability to independently design preclinical and clinical cardiovascular imaging experiments. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.) OR A Master’s or equivalent graduate degree study from an accredited college or university in Physiology or a related discipline or field of science. Courses such as anatomy; cytology; invertebrate and vertebrate zoology; embryology; entomology; animal, dairy, and poultry husbandry; nutrition; genetics; and physiology may be used to meet the 24-semester-hour requirement in the basic Physiology sciences. or related disciplines. One year of full-time graduate education is equivalent to 18 semester hours unless otherwise specified by the school. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) OR
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: An equivalent combination of related graduate level education and specialized experience, as described above, to meet the requirements at the GS-9 level for this position. Transcripts must be submitted with application. Education cannot be credited without documentation.
