EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (Office of Personnel Management Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Technical and Medical Support Positions; and Individual Occupation Requirements for Engineering Technician Series GS-0802). BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR GS-0802 SERIES: Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 or equivalent and above):
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as:
· Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes.
· Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated SPECIALIZED EXEPERIENCE:
GS-5: I have at least one year of full-time specialized experience or the equivalent, comparable to at least the GS-5 in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector). This experience must include; clerical duties involving research and development; data entry, preparing correspondence, reports, statistical charts or similar documents; OR Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses in engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. At least 6 of the 24 semester hours must have been in drafting if the position has been designated by a drafting area of specialization GS-6: I have at least one year of full-time specialized experience or the equivalent, comparable to at least the GS-5 in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector). This experience must include; involvement in research, development, and maintenance of Project maps using manual drafting methods and computer-aid design programs; recording duties to document water supplies, rights, and deliveries; and provide accurate flow and storage information used in overall water management. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date. Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (title 25, USC Section 472).
