Qualification Summary
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Individual Occupational Requirements for GS-0187). GS-7: I have at least 1 year of full-time specialized experience or the equivalent, comparable to at least the GS-6 in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector). Specialized experience is work which includes assisting higher graded Social Service Representative in managing a client caseload, under higher level supervision providing technical assistance to tribal contractors in application of program. Assist with client transportation and file case reports. General knowledge of programs and resources with the BIA and other federal, state, and local agencies dealing with welfare or social services; specific knowledge of programs and policies within the branch of social services; general knowledge of basic concepts and standards of social work practices. GS-9: I have at least 1 year of full-time specialized experience or the equivalent, comparable to at least the GS-8 in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector). Specialized experience is work that involved managing a client caseload as it relates to social services; assisting social works in providing training and technical assistance to tribal contractors and application of program policy and federal regulations; obtaining available resources to meet the needs of clients; and assisting with child welfare services and child protection. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date. Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (title 25, USC Section 472). Additional selections may be made from this announcement if identical vacancies occur in the same location within 90 days from the closing date.
