Qualification Summary
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR a combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-13 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the federal service);experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) and other characteristics to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of creditable specialized experiences include: conceive and formulate research ideas. (1) defining elusive or highly complex problems; (2) developing productive hypotheses from testing; (3) developing important new approaches, methods, and techniques;(4) interpreting and relating significant results to other research findings; (5) developing and applying new techniques and original methods of attack to solve important problems presenting
unprecedented or novel aspects; (6) isolating and defining critical problem features; and (7) adapting, extending, and synthesizing theory, principles, and techniques into original or innovative combinations or configurations. (THIS EXPERIENCE MUST BE DOCUMENTED IN YOUR RESUME; ALSO TO QUALIFY AT THE GS-12 GRADE LEVEL IN RESEARCH YOU MUST HAVE A Ph.D. OR EQIVALENT DOCTORAL DEGREE TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) PREFERRED: PH.D. or equivalent doctoral biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) There is no educational substitution for the GS-13 level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
