AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence, The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians in the Peoria Air National Guard at Wayne A. Downing International Airport. The SECOND area of consideration will be all members of the Illinois Air National Guard. The THIRD area of consideration will be all those eligible for membership in the Illinois Air National Guard. Military Grades: Enlisted Only- May not exceed the rank of SMSgt GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of materials and equipment used in the line of work (helmets, torso harness assemblies, parachutes, survival equipment); and experience understanding written instructions and using reference materials and manuals. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-10 Level – Must possess specialized experience, which includes 18 months of experience or training which has demonstrated knowledge of aviation life support equipment; experience reading and interpreting military manuals; experience in supply procedures and property accountability; experience collecting information and presenting it to various sized groups; and experience in planning a functional shop maintenance program is essential. WG-08 Level – Must possess specialized experience, which includes 12 months of experience or training which has demonstrated knowledge of aviation life support equipment; experience reading and interpreting military manuals; and experience in supply procedures and property accountability. WG-05 Level – Must possess specialized experience, which includes 6 months of experience or training which has demonstrated a basic knowledge of aviation life support equipment; experience using common hand tools; and experience that demonstrates the ability to follow written instructions. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
