Applicants must have one year of specialized experience or additional education as defined below.GS-09: One year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service OR a master’s or equivalent graduate degreee or two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree degreeOR LL.B or J.D., in the safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene).GS-11: One year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service OR three years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degreeOR Ph.D. in the safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene).Definition of Specialized Experience: To meet specialized experience, your resume must describe experience that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities as follows:GS-09: Experience managing safety or occupational health program elements; inspecting or surveying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards; developing and providing training in safety or occupational health subejcts; experience in occupational fields such as industrial hygienist, safety engineer, fire prevention engineer, health physicist, or occupational health nurse. These examples are not all inclusive.GS-11: Experience managing safety, occupational health, and security program elements; inspecting or surveying work sites for compliance; identifying and resolving security issues and safety hazards, develop policy and modify processes to eliminate or reduce frequency, severity and costs of accidents; or applying security, safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to advise on and resolve technical matters dealing with security and occupational safety and health issues.
