Qualification Summary
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Incumbent will hold a current Navy Fitness Certification or attain one within the first 90 days of employment. Incumbent must have one year or more experience working within a fitness center environment. One-year sales clerk or cash register experience. A working knowledge of Sports & Fitness Department program/operation desired. Must be a mature individual who is able to effectively handle and deal with people, and apply good judgement in overseeing the scheduling of the facility and usage of equipment. Must be neat, clean and have a presentable appearance, with a pleasant personality and tact in dealing with patrons. Must have working knowledge of fitness equipment. Must possess CPR, AED and first aide at the time of hiring or within the first 3 months of hire. Professional appearance and etiquette are required of this highly visible and customer service oriented position. This includes grooming and uniform requirements. It also includes professional conduct associated with customer service as specified in the Fitness Center Operating procedures. The incumbent is an advocate and will promote physical fitness and healthful living, which will have a positive influence in improving the morale, physical and mental well being of all customers. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
