Qualifications: You qualify if you meet the basic requirements and possess 52 weeks of general experience. General experience is defined as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position. Examples of “other work” includes cashier, customer service positions, and trade positions where completing paperwork is a regular and recurring part of the job.
Education Substitution: Successful completion of two full years of study above the high school level in an accredited college, university or business, secretarial, or technical school may be substituted for the required experience. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet the required qualifications.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations, (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
