Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect either full-time or 40 hours per week. If a part-time work schedule is reflected, the hours must be annotated to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess at least one or all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: Possess one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service that demonstrates competence in attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies, knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the Information Technology (IT) field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. Specialized experience may include, but is not limited to the following examples: performing a variety of data base management activities, determining hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment necessary to accomplish unit objectives; managing the installation of automatic data processing resources to include the installation of computer hardware, local/wide area network hardware, computer and network system operating software, software upgrades and modification, major software applications, and network and data security and diagnose and resolve problems for a wide variety of applications, operating systems, and equipment. Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies: 1) Attention to Detail – Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2) Customer Service – Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3) Oral Communication – Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4) Problem Solving – Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. You must include hours per week worked.
EDUCATION: Possess a master’s degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master’s degree or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; OR I possess such a degree that included a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above that required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. You must include transcripts.
COMBINATION: Have an equivalent combination of such education and experience. For example, I have six months, of the specialized experience (50% of the experience requirement), and 45 semester hours or 68 quarter hours of directly related graduate level education in an accredited education institution (50% of the qualifying education). You must include transcripts. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
