Qualification Summary
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Must have ability to do tasks with several steps or use judgment in a sequence of tasks. Must know what types of foods to serve on common modified diets. Ability to follow recipes and combine ingredients for complex salads and other uncooked food products. Ability to memorize frequently used diets. Ability to work quickly, efficiently and neatly. Knowledge of simple arithmetic and reading ability. Knowledge of personal and work area hygiene. Concentration is needed at this level to serve uniform individual portions and to avoid distraction. WORKING CONDITIONS Works in a clean, well-lighted area with warm temperature in the winter and very hot temperatures in the summer. Uses and cleans electrical equipment such as food carriers and reach-in refrigerators requiring use of detergents. Is subject to falls on floors made slippery by spilled liquids and foods, burns, and extreme changes in temperatures from working area to service halls. This working conditions and hazards are considered normal and have been built into the grading standards for the occupation. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
