Video – O Maria

The cinematography is by S M Anwar. Dance choreography is by P L Raj.

The video opens with Mushtaq Merchant and Kiran Vairale looking at each other and smiling. Lilliput is a differently-abled person and his close-up is shown at this point. Kamal Haasan, Dimple Kapadia and other actors begin dancing.

Mushtaq Merchant strums a guitar-like string instrument and dances along following Dimple Kapadia. Kamal Haasan begins to tease Kiran Vairale and he is pulled back by Mushtaq Merchant. Dimple Kapadia also begins to tease her.

Kamal Haasan and Dimple Kapadia have a nice time not just verbally teasing them but also making Mushtaq Merchant physically look like a joker in front of the others. Dimple Kapadia drops her lace handkerchief, unintentionally.

Kamal Haasan picks it up at the cost of his hand going under the foot of one of the other dancers. He gets hurt. But, he retrieves the cloth. Lilliput teases him about it since he knows Kamal Haasan’s secret.

It appears that Kamal Haasan’s character loves Dimple Kapadia’s character in the movie. Soon, the song rises to a crescendo and the video ends there.

O Maria has been sung by S P Balasubramaniam and Asha Bhonsle for Kamal Haasan and Dimple Kapadia respectively. Mushtaq Merchant, Kiran Vairale and others are also seen in the video.

Cultural Influence

This typically filmi song has the influence of the Goan culture on it. The song and the artists are good. The video is watchable for the same.
