Qualification Summary
To qualify for the GS-12: Applicants must possess 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Service. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience can be further defined as utilizing various Federal laws, Regulations and Executive Orders,including those related to special hiring programs and authorities,in order to recruit, determine pay setting, and to resolve complex staffing issues; perform, participate and/or coordinate internal/external audit of case files to ensure compliance with current recruitment/placement regulations; coordinate and execute a highly visible and robust recruitment program to attract qualified applicants; and gather and interpret recruitment information to evaluate and recommend a strategy to improve recruitment efforts and/or provide responses to recruitment and placement data requests. There is no substitution of education for the GS-12. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
