Sukhwinder Singh created a sensation on stage at 8 years of age by singing the Kishore-Lata number Sa Re Ga Ma Pa… from Abhinetri (1970). A Punjabi album with T Singh called Munda Southhall da later, he joined Lakshmi-Pyare’s troupe and got promoted to the post of a music arranger. After the much-needed break to sing a few lines for one of the songs in Karma (1986); Sukhiji gave a hit song Aaja Sanam… in Khilaaf (1991). He, then, went to South India to look for work and got the Tamil Rachagan (1997). But, his contribution to the song went unnoticed. He thought that something was missing in his voice. So, he took a sabbatical and toured Britain and America to understand different forms of music. Then, Chaiyaa chaiyya… from Dil Se (1998) happened and the rest is history. This post is about Sukhwinder Singh’s Early Songs.
