Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases, 10th revision, Clinical Modification), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) and codes to each diagnosis to code medical records to reflect the patient’s condition and treatment; 2) Communicating with medical staff as to provide guidance on coding and documentation policies and procedures;
3) Identifying erroneous data from medical reports to correct discrepancies;
4) Reviewing medical records and entering medical and pertinent data into CHCS (Composite Health Care System)and preparing routine and special reports; And 5) Evaluating the order of diagnoses and procedure codes to provide optimal Diagnosis Related Groupings (DRG) assignments for reimbursement according to DoD and Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) guidelines.
