Qualification Summary
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/26/2019. Specialized Experience: Must have at least (1) one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-4) in Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes: working with policies and procedures directly related to work responsibilities including information security, and customer service; working with filing systems, office operations, references and manuals commonly used by the services; operating a personal computer and other office equipment in order to produce and disseminate accurately prepared materials; knowledge of the capabilities, operating characteristics and functions of software packages in order to select the most appropriate program to meet specific administrative needs; using proper grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, format, medical terminology and clerical procedures in order to accurately type and proof read written materials; and possessing the ability to type 40 words per minute.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have completed a full 4 year course of study, above high school, leading to a bachelor’s degree in a field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal pre-requisite. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)

Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond the second year of undergraduate level coursework. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) Proficiency Requirement: Must be able to type 40 words per minute. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:
Computer SkillsCustomer ServiceInformation AssuranceWriting Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is predominantly sedentary with extended periods of sitting while operating a personal computer. The work also involves the ability to bend, squat, reach, lift, and carry light files, office supplies and medical records.
