These days there are so many bands, artists, and musicians out there producing amazing music on what feels like a non-stop basis. When there are new releases pouring out in every conceivable genre, it can be difficult to keep up with the tidal onslaught of content, let alone sift through it for something worth listening to that vibes with you. That’s where we at LemonWire come in.
We’ve gone through the work of looking through all of the upcoming album releases this fall, so you don’t have to. We’ve tried to gather albums from artists in different genres, but we’re bound to miss a few. So if there’s one we overlooked that makes you groan out loud in disbelief, please share it with us below in the comments.
So without further ado, here are five upcoming album releases to look out for this fall, in no particular order.
1. “Beneath the Eyrie” – The Pixies
The upcoming seventh album from The Pixies promises to be everything long-time fans have been waiting for. In June, the single, “On Graveyard Hill” was released. You can get an idea of what to expect on the album by watching the music video here.
For hardcore Pixies fans, there’s even more content to enjoy. Leading up to the album is a twelve-episode podcast called “It’s a Pixies Podcast”, that you can listen to for behind the scenes info on the making of “Beneath the Eyrie”.
“Beneath the Eyrie” is set to release on September 13th by BMG and Infectious.
2. “Why Me? Why Not?” – Liam Gallagher
“Why Me? Why Not?” will be the second solo album by Gallagher, following the 2017 release of “As You Were”. The former Oasis-frontman seems to have come into his own more and more with his solo work, receiving praise in the form of popularity.
Four singles have currently been released for “Why Me? Why Not?”. “Shockwave”, “The River”, “Once”, and “One of Us”. Of the four, “Shockwave” is by far the biggest hit, becoming the best selling vinyl single in the UK, which makes it his biggest solo song so far. You can listen to it and watch its political music video here.
“Why Me?” Why Not?” will be released on September 20th on Warner Records.
3. “In The Morse Code Of Brake Lights” – The New Pornographers
Those who are regular readers of my articles will know that I’m a big fan of The New Pornographers, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise when I saw that I’m very, personally excited for this album. The follow up to “Whiteout Conditions”, “In The Morse Code Of Brake Lights” will be The New Pornographers’ eighth studio album.
You can listen to the lead single for the album, “Falling Down the Stairs of Your Smile” here. Definitely would recommend.
The album will be released on September 27th under the band’s own label, Collected Work, in partnership with Concord.
4. “My Name Is Michael Holbrook” – MIKA
“My Name Is Michael Holbrook” is MIKA’s upcoming fifth studio album. Let me tell you. I haven’t listened to much MIKA, but everything by him I have listened to has been amazing. And that goes for the new single he recently released as well. You can listen to and watch the music video for “Tiny Love” here. It’s got a great combination of what sounds like The Beatles, Queen, and MIKA all wrapped up together.
“My Name Is Michael Holbrook” is set to release on October 4th by Virgin EMI.
5. “Cry” – Cigarettes After Sex
A follow up to their self-titled debut album, “Cry” promises to be another moody, ambient hazy soundscape of love songs. While they may be a bit hard to dance to, Cigarettes After Sex bring a different but nevertheless valuable atmosphere to their songs. You can listen to their lead single for the album, “Heavenly”, here.
“Cry” will be released on October 25th by Partisan Records.
