Today is Director Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s death anniversary, as well. I have some really fond memories associated with this stalwart. When I called him for a print magazine interview at the beginning of my career, he agreed immediately because his Jhoot Bole Kauva Kate (1998) was about to be released. I had promised to him that I would send a photocopy of the interview after it got published. And I kept my promise. In the attached letter, I had requested him to inform me the moment he received it. And he called me! He was a very simple, down-to-earth man and was really nice to me. I saw my grandfather in him.
