Lyricist Jan Nisar Akhtar’s Death Anniversary

Today is lyricist Jan Nisar Akhtar’s death anniversary. Born in 1914, he was a renowned poet of Urdu Ghazals and Nazms, part of the Progressive Writers’ Movement and a Bollywood lyricist, who lived in the 20th century. In a 4 decade-long career, he worked with Khayyam, N Dutta, O P Nayyar and C Ramchander, writing 151 songs in that period.
