TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted). Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the 08/12/2019 the of the announcement. BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Degree: Bachelor’s or higher degree in physical or natural science, or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in any combination of courses in hydrology, the physical sciences, geophysics, chemistry, engineering science, soils, mathematics, aquatic biology, atmospheric science, meteorology, geology, oceanography, or the management or conservation of water resources. The course work must have included at least 6 semester hours in calculus (including both differential and integral calculus), and at least 6 semester hours in physics. (You must submit transcripts.)
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities equivalent to that gained through a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field of study. The education must have included: at least 30 semester hours in any combination of courses in hydrology, the physical sciences, geophysics, chemistry, engineering science, soils, mathematics, aquatic biology, atmospheric science, meteorology, geology, oceanography, or the management or conservation of water resources. Coursework must have included at least 6 semester hours of calculus (including differential and integral) and 6 semester hours of physics. (You must submit transcripts.) In addition to meeting one of the Basic Requirements listed above, applicants must meet the following Minimum Qualifications Requirement in order to be considered: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying: GS-12 Specialized Experience: One or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, performing the following duties: Preparing water supply forecasts, preparing materials involving streamflow forecasting, snow surveying, data management, and hydrological analyses; Selecting, calibrating, testing, and implementing appropriate water supply forecast models; AND Working with team members to advance water supply forecasting techniques, including attention to data forcings, scientific protocol, impacts of climate anomalies, verification and knowledge of hydrologic modeling.
