Qualification Summary
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Toolmaker without more than normal supervision. Theses duties or tasks include: Programming, setting up and operating machines of the machinist trade, i.e., internal and external grinders, tool and cutter grinders, milling machines, lathes, shapers, and profile grinders; to include material selection and machining to very close tolerances.

Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Screen OutAbility To Use Hand Tools for Machine ShopAbility To Use Shop DrawingsKnowledge of MetalsMeasurement and LayoutOperation of Machine ToolsTechnical Practices (Theoretical, precise, artistic) PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires continuous standing on concrete floors, moderate physical effort in setting up machines, and considerable stooping, reaching, lifting and handling of tools and instruments. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works indoors in a well lighted and heated shop, subject to dust, dirt and fumes, and possible danger to eyes and skin from flying hot metal chips, to lungs from grinding dust, and to fingers and hands from moving and positioning machine attachments, stock metal, part, etc.
