Qualification Summary
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. For positions requiring positive education requirements, or if you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-5: One (1) year of Specialized Experience equivalent to a GS-4 grade level OR Successful completion of four (4) years of education above high school OR a combination of education and experience that when fully combined meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hour is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. The total percentage must equal 100 percent for the GS-05 grade level. GS-6: One (1) year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least a GS-5 level. Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA’s) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Examples of Specialized Experience:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: For GS-05: Creates correspondence in proper formats utilizing word processing programs; maintain manual and electronic calendars to add, delete or change meetings; serves as an administrative assistant or point-of-contact for an office; maintaining electronic and hard copy files; inputting data into an automated timekeeping system; input data into an electronic database for procurement of equipment and supplies. For GS-06: Performs administrative processes such as time keeping; preparing records for processing; scheduling for upper management using electronic calendars; compile information from a variety of sources to prepare reports; prepare and submit supply requisitions according to established rules. PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS: In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants for this position must show possession of Office Automation (OA) skills, This position requires the skill of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute (based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors). All candidates must self-certify their typing ability when completing the occupational questionnaire. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
