Qualification Summary
To qualify for this Information Technology Specialist, GS-12 position, you must possess the following minimum qualifications and any other requirements by close of the announcement: At least one full year of Specialized Experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. For this Information Technology Specialist position, this experience includes activities such as: experience in unified communications applications (email/messaging), collaboration tools/platforms (such as Microsoft SharePoint), Microsoft Office Suite, desktop and web conferencing, application development, project management and training and includes or is supplemented by information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience or completion of specific intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the following competencies as defined: (1) Attention to Detail – completes daily work tasks such as email account management, SharePoint site design, project status reports and program updates independently, and is able to accurately complete assignments with short or competing deadlines; occasionally reviews work completed by others; (2) Customer Service – resolves routine problems with access to or use of program applications and services, assists employees to resolve non-routine problems, questions or complaints; develops and maintains strong, mutually supportive working relationships with customers; conducts evaluation of support to determine quality of services and customer satisfaction, recommends procedural changes based on customer need or changes in policy and regulation; (3) Problem Solving – Solves complex or sensitive problems with the use or implementation of collaboration applications (email, office suite or web conferencing) by developing or proposing strategic alternatives; identifies possible conflicts and shared benefits; helps team anticipate problems; identifies and evaluates potential sources of information; provides feedback and coaching to others to help solve problems; engages appropriate stakeholders when developing solutions in order to understand and incorporate multiple perspectives and needs, and evaluates the effectiveness of decisions and adjusts future decisions as appropriate. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. FOR EACH LISTING OF EXPERIENCE: YOU MUST INCLUDE THE BEGINNING AND ENDING DATES IN A MONTH/YEAR FORMAT AND THE NUMBER OF HOURS WORKED PER WEEK WORKED (Example: 9/2005 – 3/2010; 40 hours per week) TO RECEIVE CREDIT FOR YOUR WORK AND/OR VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE. ONE YEAR OF SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE IS EQUIVALENT TO 12 MONTHS AT 40 HOURS PER WEEK. PART-TIME HOURS ARE PRORATED. YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY CREDIT FOR EXPERIENCE THAT DOES NOT INDICATE EXACT HOURS PER WEEK OR IS LISTED AS “VARIES”.
