Qualification Summary
Relocation expenses are authorized if you are a USCIS employee assigned to the Refugee, Asylum and International Operations program and have been approved for rotation from an overseas assignment. Relocation expenses for USCIS employees assigned to an OCONUS location will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Basic Education Requirement:
A degree in economics that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus per OPM qualifications for GS-0110 series OR a combination of education and experience – courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
The education requirements must be reflected in your resume and a copy of your official transcripts are required by the time you enter on duty. Failure to display these qualifications may result in an ineligible rating. GS-15: You qualify at the GS-15 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to perform the duties of the position. You must also have experience performing the following duties: Utilizing economic theory and methodologies to assess the adequacy of existing programs to identify problems and recommend alternative solutions Developing positions and initiatives related to economic policy and the economic analysis requirements of the Executive Orders and laws which govern rule-making, such as Executive Order 12866 (Regulatory Planning and Review), Executive Order 13563 (Improving Regulation and Regulatory Review) and the Regulatory Flexibility Act Evaluating data generated by other studies, and making decisions and recommendations on the basis of extensive economic analysis Assisting other economists in the preparation of papers, and performing peer review and evaluation functions on economic manuscripts prepared by other economists Prior experience with immigration law is preferred, though not mandatory. Selective Placement Factor: You must have experience in drafting regulatory impact analyses to meet the requirements of federal rulemaking.
