To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. For positions requiring positive education requirements, or if you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-07: One (1) year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement and/or one (1) year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level. GS-09: Two (2) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master’s degree or master’s or equivalent graduate degree and/or one (1) year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level. Examples of Specialized Experience: GS-07: Provides guidance, in-service and orientation regarding Case Management/Discharge Planning. Refers patients to appropriate Mental Health facilities.
GS-09: Work with a variety of serious problems, such as suicide, depression, violence, abuse, grief, etc. Experience integrating highly specialized knowledge and skills with the needs and lifestyles of the Indian Culture. Knowledge and ability to lead, direct and extract information from discussion groups, which often include members hesitant to reveal or discuss personal problems due to cultural and educational barriers. Utilizes Therapeutic skills, initiatives, imagination, resourcefulness, self-motivation, knowledge about community resource and efficient time management and productivity is essential for positives patient outcome. Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Superior Academic Achievement: The superior academic achievement provision is applicable to all occupations covered by this standard. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level.
