Bheega bheega mausam aaya was featured in AVM Arts International’s horror flick Bhayanak (1979), directed by S U Syed and produced by A V Mohan. The movie starred Mithun Chakraborty, Ranjeeta Kaur, Nilu Phule, etc.

Vijay (Mithun) is a police officer and falls in love with Renu (Ranjeeta Kaur) after saving her from some goons. Renu does not have relatives in the town and begins dating Vijay. On one of the dates, it rains and she sings this song.

Indeevar wrote the lyrics and Usha Khanna composed the tune for Bheega bheega mausam aaya.

The girl describes the darkly cloudy wet monsoon season and how it is affecting her.

The video opens with Mithun Chakraboty kissing Ranjeeta Kaur’s hand and the appearance of thunder and lightning. It begins to rain very heavily with the wind blowing the plants. The music follows the change in weather with the playing of the santoor.

They get wet and she sings the song. The couple gets married at a temple. They get intimate on the round revolving bed. The song peters out and the video ends as the light is switched off.


Hemlata sang this song for Ranjeeta Kaur and Mithun Chakraborty dances with Ranjeeta.

Cultural Influence

In India, particularly in Bollywood, monsoons are given a lot of importance as far as romance is concerned. The song and the artists are good. The video is watchable for the same.
