Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. GS-05 Level Requirements:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes general office duties such as handling of mail, telephone calls, and visitors, reviewing outgoing correspondence, providing and /or following up on requests for information . This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. GS-06 Grade Level Requirements: One year of experience with word processing, preparing correspondence, timekeeping, file maintenance and making travel arrangements equivalent to the GS-05 level. OR Successful completion of at least 1/2 year (if determination from your school cannot be made this is typically identified as 9 semester hours) or more of graduate level education at an accredited college or university in Business Administration or in a field directly related to the position being filled. Please attach a copy of your transcripts to your application package under document type ‘Transcripts’. OR Some specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have some graduate level education but less than the 1/2 year of graduate level education as described in B. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying specialized experience by12 to get a percentage of experience. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 9 to get a percentage of education. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
