Qualification Summary
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify for this position you must meet the (1) Basic Educational Requirements, AND (2) Specialized Experience for the grade to which you are applying. (1) Basic Educational Requirements: You must meet the description in either A, B or C below to qualify for this position. A. Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. -OR-
B. Combination of education and experience — that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. -OR-
C. Four years of appropriate experience — that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
And
(2) Specialized Experience:
GS-11
To qualify at the GS-11 you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-09). Specialized Experience is that which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience: 1) Identifying and analyzing relevant information to support sociocultural for environmental impact analyses; 2) assisting with the development of documents related to environmental analysis; and 3) reviewing and commenting on environmental documents prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). -OR-
A Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate degree in a behavioral or social science, or related discipline appropriate for the position, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.M., if related. -OR-
Combination of Graduate Education and Professional Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Only graduate level education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be combined with experience.
GS-12
To qualify at the GS-12 you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11). Specialized Experience is that which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of Specialized experience: 1) Identifying and analyzing relevant information to evaluate the impact of energy development activities on an area’s subsistence lifestyle, culture, and subsistence activities; 2) preparing sections of environmental impact analyses under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA); and 3) evaluating the impact of activities on historic properties under the National Historic Preservation Act.
GS-13
To qualify at the GS-13 you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-12). Specialized Experience is that which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience:1) Identifying and analyzing relevant information to evaluate the impact of energy development activities on an area’s subsistence lifestyle, culture, and subsistence activities; 2) preparing sections of environmental impact analyses under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA); and 3) evaluating the impact of activities on historic properties under the National Historic Preservation Act,preparing consultation documents and completing consultations with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO).
