Qualification Summary
In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement – please be sure to include this information in your resume. To qualify for the GS-07: You musthave one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07. Examples: experience in applying concepts, principles, and methodologies of outdoor recreation planning sufficient to independently perform conventional natural resource management tasks that have well-precedented guidelines using standard methods and techniques. You work independently but consult your supervisor regarding problems not covered by instructions/guidelines for help or a decision. -OR-
You must have two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master’s degree or master’s or equivalent graduate degree in outdoor recreation planning or a related field. -OR-
You must have an equivalent combination of experience and education.
To qualify for the GS-09: You musthave one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07. Examples: experience in applying concepts, principles, and methodologies of outdoor recreation planning sufficient to independently perform conventional natural resource management tasks that have well-precedented guidelines using standard methods and techniques. You work independently but consult your supervisor regarding problems not covered by instructions/guidelines for help or a decision. -OR-
You must have two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master’s degree or master’s or equivalent graduate degree in outdoor recreation planning or a related field. -OR-
You must have an equivalent combination of experience and education.
To qualify for the GS-11: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 which may be defined as experience in applying concepts, principles, and methodologies of outdoor recreation planning sufficient to independently perform conventional natural resource management tasks that have well-precedented guidelines using standard methods and techniques. You work independently and carry out assignments in conformance with accepted policies and practices. -OR-
You must have three years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in outdoor recreation planning or a related field. -OR-
You must have an equivalent combination of experience and education. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
*Note: To qualify for this position based on education, your major study must have been in outdoor recreation planning or a related field such as: sociology, forestry, landscape architecture, economics, biological science, park administration, earth science, natural resource management and conservation, civil engineering, urban planning, or recreation. Applicants who qualify on the basis of graduate work in related disciplines must have one or more courses in outdoor recreation.
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
