Qualification Summary
Applicants for the GS-7 grade level must possess at least one full year of specialized experience (equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal Service). Examples of specialized experience includes, supporting administrative activities related to budgets, researching and/or analyzing administrative and/or program issues, and conducting technical reviews or correspondence. You can also qualify for the GS-7 based on Superior Academic Achievement through one of the following methods: (1)class standing; (2)grade-point-average (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 . Note – For positions at GS-7 through GS-12, applicants who are qualifying based on experience must possess at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to work at the next lower level, that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the work of the position.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.Knowledge of basic budget formulation practices and Budget Models as applied to the medical funds. Knowledge of materiel inventory procedures to include: purchasing, inventory control and final disposition of excess or worn out items. Ability to produce statistical reports and routine correspondence used to formulate budgets, track productivity, and project future costs. Skill in various computer software applications, database processing and data retrieval. Excellent skill in oral and written communication.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
