Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. There are no specific educational requirements for this occupation Licensure or Certification is not required for this occupation; however, it is strongly desirable at the GS-6 or above as evidence of possession of essential knowledge, skills, and abilities. English Language Proficiency. Medical Instrument Technicians must be proficient in spoken and written English References: VHA Handbook 5005 Appendix G27 Preferred experience: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are strongly desired. Broad technical and administrative level is preferred to assist in meeting the needs of the service’s long-range planning. Time-in-GradeTime-in-Grade Restriction – Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. (If you have not held a GS grade at any time in the past 52 weeks, this question does not apply to you.) For this vacancy, applicants must have held grade GS-5 or higher for at least a year to be eligible for the GS-6 grade level of this position. The grade must have been held in the Federal service but may have been in any occupation.The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-6. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is GS-6 Physical Requirements: Assists patients on and off the table and will be required to sit, stand, carry or lift in the performance of daily duties and responsibilities.
