Qualification Summary
Only experience and education obtained by A. For the Fish/Wildlife Biologist, 0401 series applicants must have a bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited college or university in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position; OR
B. Have a combination of education from an accredited college or university and experience -courses equivalent to a major in one of the fields described in “A” above plus appropriate experience or additional education; OR
C. A combination of education and experience as listed above. And
D. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your experience in waterfowl and other migratory bird habitat conservation; establishing and maintaining partnerships established to protect bird habitat; experience communicating with outside entities on landscape-level biological projects and facilitating meetings with outside groups regarding bird conservation issues. A. For the Wildlife Biologist 0486 series applicants must have a bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited college or university in biological science that included at least 9 semester hours in such wildlife subjects as mammalogy, ornithology, animal ecology, wildlife management, or research courses in the field of wildlife biology; and at least 12 semester hours in zoology in such subjects as general zoology, invertebrate zoology, vertebrate zoology, comparative anatomy, physiology, genetics, ecology, cellular biology, parasitology, entomology, or research courses in such subjects; and at least 9 semester hours in botany or the related plant sciences. Note: If courses in wildlife, zoology and botany are not clearly identified on transcript and knowledge of such subjects was obtained in other coursework, include a description of such courses, to include syllabus as provided in official college catalog; OR
B. Have a combination of education from an accredited college or university and experience–courses equivalent to a major in biological science (i.e., at least 30 semester hours), with at least 9 semester hours in wildlife subjects, 12 semester hours in zoology, and 9 semester hours in botany or related plant science, as shown in “A” above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Note: If courses in wildlife, zoology and botany are not clearly identified on transcript and knowledge of such subjects was obtained in other coursework, include a description of such courses, to include syllabus as provided in official college catalog; OR C. A combination of education and experience as listed above. And
D. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your experience using statistical software to analyze and evaluate biological data related to migratory bird management; synthesizing information from various sources to develop management recommendations for migratory birds; establishing and maintaining partnerships established to protect migratory birds and their habitat.
