MinimumEducation Requirement: A. Degree: You must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university OR a combination of education and experience equivalent to the completion of a bachelor’s degree. Studies must have included at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, 12 of which must be in mathematics and 6 of which must be in statistics. OR B. Combination of education and experience — at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.In addition to the above requirements, you must also meet the following:Specialized Experience: For theGS-13, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes designing, planning and implementing production, research and evaluation projects for survey and/or census activities using mathematical statistical theory and statistical methodology; implementing various statistical methods such as disclosure avoidance, data editing, nonresponse reweighting, and imputation procedures; demonstrated facility with statistical computing software and routines to implement statistical methodology; and assigning and reviewing work and resolving issues. Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
