Director Nasir Hussain’s Death Anniversary

Today is Director Nasir Hussain’s death anniversary. Born Mohammad Nasir Hussain Khan in 1926, Nasir Hussain was not only a movie director but also a producer and screenwriter. He was a pioneer in setting a trend of the Bollywood masala movies with Yaadon Ki Baraat (1973). The cue was taken up by others and similar movies began to be made by them in the 1970s and 1980s. He produced and wrote Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), which also gave a boost to the typical 1990s Bollywood musical romances.

Bollywood and Director Nasir Hussain’s Death Anniversary:

Some of my favorite songs from Bollywood movies he directed in 1950s and 1960s are:

Chupnewale samne aa… Tumsa Nahin Dekha (1957)

Meghare bole ghanan ghanan… Dil Deke Dekho (1959)

Tum jaise bigde Babuse main ankhiyan bachaoon… Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai (1961)

Ankhonse jo utri hai dil mein… Phir Wahi Dil Laya Hoon (1963)

Aaja Piya tohe pyar doon… Baharon Ke Sapne (1967)

Ni Sultana re… Pyar Ka Mausam (1969)
