Today is Composer Ravi’s Death Anniversary. It has been 7 years since he left this material world. Born Ravi Shankar Sharma, he was a music composer, whose works were in Bollywood and Malayalam movies. Post a successful work experience in Bollywood, he took a break between 1970s and 1984 and returned as Bombay Ravi, composing for South Indian movies from Kerala. He not only composed hit tunes himself, but also inspired the composers of later years, into giving successful compositions.
Bollywood and Composer Ravi’s Death Anniversary:
Some of my favorite Bollywood songs composed by him in the 1950s are:
Chanda Mama doorke… Vachan (1955) – The beginning part of this song’s music inspired the tune of Ek do teen… Tezaab (1989).
Sab kuch lutake hosh mein aayen toh kya kiya… Ek Saal (1957)
Yeh raaten yeh mausam nadi ka kinara yeh chanchal hawa… Dilli Ka Thug (1958)
Yeh hawa yeh nadi ka kinara… Ghar Sansar (1958)
Bada bedard jahan hai… Chirag Kahan Roshni Kahan (1959)
Dilbar pe ho na kaboo… Pehli Raat (1959)
