Qualification Summary
Specialized Experience Requirement:In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement – please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade (GS-08) of the position to be filled.Examples: determining preparedness and suppression needs, facilitating procurement, formulating and preparing project plans for an IHC; assisting with the formulation of an annual IHC budget and maintaining a system of accounts to track program expenditures; managing assigned crew property; assisting with organizational training needs assessment; assisting in the development of fuels management projects and work plans; providing day-to-day fireline supervision; making on-site evaluations of incident conditions, making tactical decisions and determining appropriate responses; recognizing, reacting to and communicating changes in weather and fire behavior, topography and fuel types and adapting planned strategies and tactics to identify and relocate firelines, escape routes and safety zones; and providing technical and administrative supervision to an IHC.You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.Eligible Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.64. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS: This position requires special qualifications that have been determined to be essential to perform the duties and will be used as screen out elements. If you do not provide evidence you possess the following selective factors, you will be rated not qualified.1. Must haveextensive prior wildlandfirefighting experienceon-the-fireline.You musthave held or currently holdall of the following National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) incident management qualifications and training requirements to be considered eligible for this position:2. Task Force Leader (TFLD)
AND3. Incident Commander Type 4 (ICT4)
AND
4. Single Resource Boss- Firing(FIRB)
