Qualification Summary
Specialized Experience: In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled. This experience must also be documented in your resume. Specialized experienceis experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the dutiesof the position and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience can be further defined as experience in at least 3 of the following: providing technical support to a Chemist; performing analytical tests of materials such as water and soil; performing physical measurements and weighing; calibrating, operating and maintaining analytical instruments; logging samples and entering data in Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS); generating reports, graphs, and charts; overseeing sampling schedules and collecting samples at field sites; participating in special projects and assisting in researching iron-related bacteria, algae, and nitrogen problems.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
